Hiking the South West Coast Path
Wild Swimming
My absolute favourite. When the tide is coming in and the sun is out, it’s worth the slightly undignified scramble over the rocks to swim in the refreshing and clean waters of Porlock Weir. Personally, I like to time it for high tide so I can leap into the ancient tidal harbour, then stretch out on the warm stones afterwards for nature’s own hot stone massage. Porlock Bay is also just on the doorstep – perfect for a refreshing dip before breakfast or as the day winds down.
Exmoor Adventures
Just up the road, Exmoor Adventures offers a wide range of outdoor activities for those inclined to be more active – from kayaking and paddle boarding to guided cycling and archery.
Greencombe Gardens
Just minutes away, this magical spring garden bursts into life each year with spectacular colour and rare plant varieties. A must for garden lovers or anyone seeking a quiet, beautiful stroll.
Dunster & Dunster Castle
A beautifully preserved medieval village with a National Trust castle, formal gardens, and charming tea rooms.
Selworthy Green
Selworthy Green – A picture-perfect National Trust hamlet with thatched cottages and sweeping views.
Forest Bathing
One of my daily rituals with my dogs – walking in the ancient woods, breathing in the mingled scents of earth and sea. It’s a rare and treasured pleasure, something we too often forget to make time for in our busy lives.
Reading & Relaxing at Locanda
For those moments when you don’t want to do anything at all, we have a wide range of books on everything from local history to novels and spiritual texts. In fair weather, you can take one into the garden; on cooler days, curl up on a sofa by the log fire with a glass of wine, an artisanal tea, or a perfectly made latte.
